Professional Profile
I am the former (2008-13) Principal and Director of Clinic of the International College of Oriental Medicine (www.orientalmed.ac.uk), one of Europe's leading and oldest acupuncture training institutions. Here, students study a 3 year BSc Hons degree in acupuncture, validated by the University of Greenwich.
I am a PGCE qualified teacher and former Chair of the 'Council for Heads of Acupuncture Courses' the national forum for heads of accredited acupuntcure courses. I also held the academic position of 'External Examiner' for the University of Kingstons BSc Hons Degree, overseeing standards for their award to the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading (2010-13).
I have appeared on BBC regional and national radio representing the British Acupuncture Council (the lead professional body for Traditional Acupuncture), and have also appeared in the press, including an interview for 'Time Out' magazine.
I have also worked with the Department of Health on a pilot study using acupuncture for patients using 'Personal Health Budgets', and was asked to speak at the House of Commons regarding this.
I have been in private practice since 2000, after undertaking a 4 year training course in acupuncture and western medicine. I am a registered practitioner with the acupuncture profession's lead body the British Acupuncture Council (www.acupuncture.org.uk.), and have worked in a variety of multi-disciplinary settings, including a local GP practice (Sundridge Medical practice, Bromley).
